A Life of Reiki Begins

I'm often asked how I became involved with Reiki and Essential Oils. I had a position which I loved and never really considered "retiring" from. A few years ago, I began to experience this nagging feeling that I wasn't where I was supposed to be.....I was supposed to be doing something that would benefit both people and animals. I had no idea what that might be, but the feeling persisted and kept getting stronger!

I was leaving a local shop 1 afternoon when I spotted a sign across the way offering a Reiki 1 class. I stopped in my tracks! Even though my knowledge of Reiki was limited, I knew immediately "That's it! That's what I'm supposed to do!" I came home and began searching the internet for a Reiki instructor. The same name came up over and over, but she wasn't teaching a beginning Reiki class until Fall. This was April and now that I knew what I was supposed to do, I couldn't wait!

I tried a few other instructors, but nothing worked out. In the busy-ness of life, it faded to the back of my mind as summer progressed. Fast forward to that September. I was talking to a friend one night and he asked if I had seen the magazine he left at my house - there was an article in the back about some upcoming Reiki classes. I flipped to the back of the magazine, and sure enough - these were the same classes I had seen in the Spring being offered by Libby Barnett. I signed up immediately!

Libby is the longest practicing Reiki Master Teacher on the East Coast, with strong ties to the origins of Reiki. I am so proud to have received my Reiki I, II, and Reiki Master certifications from her. She likes to tell us that "You don't choose Reiki; Reiki chooses you."

In my case, it couldn't be more true - not only did Reiki choose me, it directed me to a very specific instructor!
