Peace & Balance...I fell off the wagon

I fell off the wagon. No - not the type of wagon most people think of when they hear this phrase. I fell off the daily Reiki, self-care, do something that makes your heart sing wagon. As a Reiki Master Teacher it is usually assumed that I am always in that Reiki peaceful zone. But, I am also human, and sometimes life gets so busy that even I lose track of my priorities. When that happens, it takes the same toll on me that it does on everyone else. I lose my grounding, my peace, and my balance.
Balance - something we all strive for and a state we wish we could be in and live in all the time. The truth is that balance is fleeting. Think of being a child again on a see saw with your friend. You make adjustments here and there, and after a bit you are both sitting on your own end of that see saw with your feet off the ground- balanced. But all it takes is 1 little move and someone’s feet touch the ground. Then you have to start all over again. So what gets you through those times in between being “in balance”? I don’t think there’s any 1 solution. For some folks it’s meditating, for others a walk in nature, maybe a massage, hopefully a Reiki session! Go a little deeper, though, and ask yourself what does each of these have in common? They all promote a sense of peace, self love, and well being. When you lack peace and balance in your life, the toll is both physical and emotional; a state of dis-ease. That sense of peace and balance allows you to hear (and hopefully listen to) that quiet voice inside - the voice that keeps you on your life path and soul journey.
So where am I going with all this and how does it relate to the picture posted? I was out walking the dogs today, one of those things that can often bring things into focus for me, and I was thinking about how best to get myself back on track. I decided to acknowledge “publicly” that I had not been following my own advice and practicing my daily Reiki, self care, doing something that makes your heart sing routine. I also decided to say publicly that I’m getting back on track. Nothing like accountability!
Once those thoughts came to me, I looked down and that’s when I saw this sand in the shape of a heart on the roadway. Whenever I find something heart shaped, (sometimes its a rock, or a shadow, grain in a piece of wood, a torn leaf - they take many forms), I take it as confirmation that I am on the right path or right train of thought. What about you? How do you intend to put that peace and balance into your life? Hint, hint - I hope that scheduling a Reiki session, or learning Reiki is involved ;)
