Bloom Where You’re Planted

My FB post this morning had to do with enjoying where you are and loving who you are versus wishing you were somewhere else or someone that you’re not. It reminded me of something I’ve been meaning to write about for quite a while now, and I regarded this post as my nudge to “get it done.”
Many of you may know we adopted a dog from GA late last fall. There are plenty of other stories to go along with this journey, but this morning’s post reflects one of the biggest lessons I have learned from our girl, Lucy.
I am not winter’s biggest fan and was definitely worried about my southern girl and how she would adapt. The first snow scared her to death. She finally did venture out after we snowblowed (and we continued to snow blow a good portion of the yard all winter for her😊). Part of her daily routine prior to coming here was to go walking. Neither the cold, nor snow of New England deterred her! A friend made some all natural paw salve to protect her feet and off we went nearly every day - even days that I normally would have thought were too cold. In fact, some days she would get so excited, I swear she looked at me with a smile!
I have been working on a course with a well known animal communicator, and the soul connections we have with our animals. I truly believe that one reason Lucy became part of my life is to help teach me to bloom where you’re planted! She has never “complained” about the cold, or other changes to her new life. She simply takes each change in stride.
Every time I find myself wanting to say I wish this or that was different, I look at Lucy and think “This is where I’m planted. This is where I’ll bloom. And I’ll try to improve here every day.” Come to think of it, this also aligns very closely with the Reiki precepts. Coincidence? I’m sure it’s not.
More on Lucy, particularly how I incorporated Reiki and essential oils into her new life to come!
